Road Trip! Is Your Dog Coming Too? 🚙🐾
Road Trip! Is Your Dog Coming Too? 🚙🐾There’s something about summer that makes you want to get in the car and GO. Maybe it’s a full-blown road trip. Maybe it’s a day at the beach, a hike, a visit with family, or simply a drive somewhere you and your dog have never explored before. And if you’re anything like me, there’s one question that comes up pretty quickly: Is the dog coming? Around here, the answer has very often been YES. 🐾 Although I should probably clarify… They don’t actually get to drive. 😂 Over the years, my dogs have spent plenty of time riding along with me. Some wanted to watch absolutely everything happening outside the window. Some were perfectly happy settling in and enjoying the ride. And some apparently thought they should be promoted directly to chauffeur. But traveling with your dog also means doing a little planning before you pull out of the driveway. Before You Hit the Road 🐾 A few simple things can make the trip safer and more enjoyable for everyone: Bring plenty of fresh water. Pack your dog’s food, treats and any medications they need. Bring a leash, collar or harness, and current identification. Plan breaks on longer drives so both of you can stretch your legs. Keep your dog safely secured while the vehicle is moving. Never leave your dog alone in a hot vehicle. But here’s something we sometimes forget: The trip itself can be part of the adventure. A rest stop becomes a chance to walk together. A new destination brings new sights, sounds and smells for your dog. A simple drive can turn into an afternoon you remember years later. And sometimes those ordinary moments—the dog staring out the window, an unexpected stop along the way, or that look that says, “Where are we going next?”—become the best part of the trip. There’s Still Time for a Summer Adventure ☀️🚙🐾 Before summer gets away from us, maybe there’s still time for one more adventure together. And it doesn’t have to mean driving hundreds of miles. Maybe there’s a park you haven’t visited lately. A dog-friendly town you’ve been meaning to explore. A walking trail. A beach. A weekend getaway. Or maybe you simply pack some water, grab the leash and go for a drive together. Because getting healthier and happier with our dogs isn’t always about workouts, training plans or counting miles. Sometimes it’s about getting out there and enjoying life together. So here’s my question for you: Does your dog love riding in the car? And even better… If you could take one road trip with your dog right now, where would you go? 🚙🐾 Maybe your answer will give another dog owner an idea for their next adventure. One foot, one paw—and sometimes four wheels—at a time. 🐾 Until next time have a happy and healthy tail wagging day and be safe as you hit the road with your dog today, Pamela and Freedom |
